34 news; In a unanimous vote, the United Nations General Assembly condemned the annexation of parts of Ukraine and called it illegal.
The United Nations General Assembly approved this resolution with 143 votes in favor and five votes against it, while 35 other countries, including China, India, Pakistan, and South Africa, refused to vote despite American diplomatic efforts.
The resolution condemned Russia’s referendum on Ukraine’s borders, which is recognised internationally, and Vladimir Putin’s “attempted illegal annexation” of four Ukrainian regions.
Meanwhile, the United Nations asked the international organisations not to recognise the changes that Russia has announced in its borders and asked Moscow to unconditionally and immediately cancel its decisions in this regard.
Meanwhile, in a tweet, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the countries involved in the adoption of this resolution for their support and called it a “historic resolution of the United Nations General Assembly”.
