34 news; The World Football Federation (FIFA) has announced that the sale of alcoholic beer is prohibited in the stadiums and venues of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Yesterday, FIFA said in an announcement that following the discussions between the officials of the federation and the Qatari authorities, the booths selling alcoholic beverages will be dismantled from the stadiums and the sale of alcoholic beverages will be done only in licensed places.
The announcement is published while the World Cup games are going to start in this country in a few days.
Meanwhile, the British Football Supporters’ Association said the decision raised concerns about Qatar’s ability to meet its commitments to football fans on “accommodation, transport or cultural issues”.
Qatar’s sudden decision to prevent the sale of beer in football World Cup stadiums comes at a time when the country had agreed to FIFA’s requirements for the sale of alcoholic beverages in stadiums when it submitted its bid to host the 2022 World Cup.
It should be mentioned that according to the statements of the Qatari authorities, more than one million visitors are expected to visit that country during the World Cup. It is expected that hundreds of thousands of people from inside Qatar will also go to Doha to watch these matches.
