China Issues and Facilitates Visas for Afghan Businessmen

Wang Yu, the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan, in a meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, stated that the Chinese embassy is preparing to begin issuing Chinese visa to Afghan businessmen.

According to the Taliban official, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Wang Yu, the Ambassador of China to Afghanistan yesterday, 25th June, in Kabul. Ambassador Wang offered his sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased and the injured, and he reiterated that China is determined to do its very best to offer immediate humanitarian aid. The two sides discussed earthquake relief, political issues, Afghanistan-China cooperative trade, Chinese humanitarian aid, and the return of Afghan students to Afghanistan from China, according to the Taliban official. Foreign Minister Muttaqi called on the Chinese ambassador to expedite the process of issuing Chinese visas to Afghan businessmen to which the Chinese ambassador said that they are getting ready to start granting businessmen from Afghanistan visas. He also stated that the first consignment of goods will arrive in Afghanistan on the 27th through charter flight when discussing the humanitarian relief being sent to the earthquake victims in Afghanistan, which includes tents, blankets, folding beds, and other necessary supplies. The meeting comes at a time when a high magnitude earthquake devastatingly jolted southeast Afghanistan, in response to which the Chinese government pledged an amount of $7.5 million in aid for the victims.
