34 news; The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has rejected the claim of Acting Minister of Defence Mullah Yaqoob regarding the use of the country’s airspace against Afghanistan and said that Pakistan emphasises its belief in the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states and condemns all forms of terrorism.
Yesterday, Mullah Yaqub Mujahid, Acting Minister of Defence, in response to the flight of American drones in Afghanistan’s airspace, asked Pakistan not to use its airspace against his country. He added that according to information, American drones are still entering Afghan airspace from Pakistani airspace.
In response to this claim, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan published a statement saying: “In the absence of any evidence, as confirmed by the Afghan minister himself, such imaginary claims are very unfortunate and contradict diplomatic behaviour.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has also asked the officials of the caretaker government of the Taliban to ensure that according to Afghanistan’s international obligations, they will not allow terrorism to use the territory of that country against other countries.
These statements are being exchanged between Kabul and Islamabad, as Taliban officials have recently expressed concern about drone patrols in the airspace of Kabul and several other Afghan cities.
